2014 FIFA world Cup: Brasil - Germany semi-finals
In less than 30 minutes after the beginning of the
play, Germany already scored 5-0, with 4 goals in less than 6 minutes.
I was amazed at this... The German team played remarkably
well. And Brazil players were just trying to run after their adversaries, not
having the luck to touch the ball.
The Brazilian team counted too much on Neymar (absent
due to an injury) and their captain Thiago Silva, while the German team played
... as a team!
The match ended with a 7-1 (Brazil could mark once,
but that was far from enough...)
I was wondering... Did Germany need to mark all those
goals? They showed their supremacy in the first half of the game. Maybe they
should have relented. Why humiliate an adversary? Even if it is a football
game...
I know this is some kind of ethical thinking.
But think about it for a second.
For a nation, hosting such a world event is a pride.
And Brazilian government wanted to show the entire planet the emerging power
they have become and that other countries should count on with. But people
wanted hospitals instead of stadiums. And there were riots in Brazil before the
FIFA cup began. Brazilian government hoped that once the games would start, Brasilia
will unite to support the Seleção. And the people did support their team. I
will never forget the national anthem being sang by the team, the stadium...
and the whole country altogether, with devotion, pride and unity.
Match after match, they sang, applauded, supported
their team.
But yesterday, it turned out to be nightmare. For the
whole nation. A mere shame.
They lost in their own country, in front of their own
people.
I hope Brasil won't settle with this feeling. Rather
keep in mind the pride in having all infrastructure ready in time, the
happiness of hosting such an event and welcoming the entire world in their
home...
The Seleção has still one match to play. The little
final will be played Saturday.
Hope their spirit will be up again.
Go
Brasilia!
